Collecting and recording place names for Njanjma country

Rangers have been working with Traditional owners to collect and record place names for country. This project is central to the future of ranger work. In the future, we plan to use these places as the foundation on which we schedule and prioritise work.
This project is important as it is a central part of fulfilling our Healthy Country Plan and matching our work up with our culture.
During the end of June we were visited by Troy Mallie from Environmental Systems Solutions, who worked with the rangers and Traditional Owners to begin the process of recording names for country. We spent a week to record and map sites which have been integrated into our Information Management System and will be used throughout ranger work and planning.
