Unlike many other Aboriginal ranger programs, the area for Njanjma Rangers work is not set by defined boundaries. We operate with regard to traditional clan estates of our members and areas within our clan estates that are identified as high priority for land and cultural heritage management activities.

Our ‘area of operations’ includes initial priority areas of the Red Lily Lagoon, East Alligator District within Kakadu National Park, Mikkinj Valley within the Arnhem Land Aboriginal Land Trust and the areas of the Gunbalanya Station in conjunction with the Indigenous Land Corporation (ILC).

Njanjma Rangers will also work in the clan areas surrounding these locations to conduct specific defined projects and activities with key land management and research partners. As our skills and capacities grow, Njanjma Rangers will hopefully be able to extend our work more completely into other areas of our clan country and to support other clan areas closely related through cultural connections.
